Rolando

Miami Artist

I am an artist; a "poet" of the paint brush, the "pen" and the strings...although I am not a performer, I am a composer and creator. I graduated from FIU but I studied in various universities around Central America and the Caribbean. I, being a Spaniard, have native fluency and proficiency in Spanish. I have traveled extensively and still do, always expanding my knowledge base and feeding my hunger for adventure. I served in the Army and retired after 30 years with the police department. ...

I graduated from FIU with a BA in Liberal Studies but my original coursework and trajectory was in Theatre and Dance. I have many credits in both disciplines converting them into a strong minor. I also did professional theatre in Miami within the Cuban theatre community. I wrote and did the musical direction for "Alas" (1993) the first professional and artistic representation of the "Pedro Pan" operation which assisted with the exodus of minors from Cuba and relocating them in the US. In 1997 I wrote, starred and did the music direction and composition for "El Bolerísta" which became my second professionally produced musical theatre work in Miami.
